Most building permits in Westchester start with a city, town, or village. Use the county’s local building-department contact page to find the right office.

First, confirm which city, town, or village the property is in. When the address sits near a village line, do not guess from the county name. Use the same contact page when a worker is not sure who approves the job. The county can point you to the office, but the local permit desk often handles the work.

Give that office the property address and a short description of the project. Add any form or permit number you already have. Ask which local form, review, or inspection applies before work starts.
