Ulster County has a DMV detail that can save a Kingston trip if you catch the schedule right. The County Clerk’s DMV Mobile Unit travels to seven towns during the year and offers limited DMV services.

The rhythm is local. Marlborough gets Monday. Saugerties gets Tuesday. Wawarsing gets Wednesday. New Paltz gets most Thursdays. Plattekill gets the third Thursday, Shandaken gets the opening Friday of the month, and Shawangunk gets other Fridays. The posted daily hours are 10:00 to 1:00 and 2:00 to 3:00. Weather can change the schedule.

The mobile unit handles a specific set of errands. Those include driver’s license renewal, learner’s permit, non-driver ID, Real ID, vehicle registration, registration renewal, plate surrender, duplicate title request, and change of address.

Drivers in Ellenville, Saugerties, New Paltz, Wallkill, Shandaken, Milton, or Modena should check the mobile schedule, bring the proof for the listed service, and save a screenshot of the stop. Confirm the town, weekday, hours, and weather status before leaving.
