Schuyler Room Tax Still Wants the Report Trail

Schuyler lodging hosts should track room-tax quarters, platform collection by Vrbo or Expedia, and the report copy the Treasurer requests.

Published July 6, 2026 · Last verified July 6, 2026

Vrbo and Expedia began collecting and remitting Schuyler County occupancy taxes on April 1, 2025. If a fourth-quarter rental goes through Vrbo or Expedia, the host does not need to remit that payment directly, but the Treasurer asks for a copy of the quarterly report by mail or email.

Open the county room-tax route and match each rental to its platform, booking dates, quarter, guest charges, and tax screen. Save the report copy sent to the Treasurer rather than keeping only a payout screenshot.

The county posts four due dates: March 20 for December through February, June 20 for March through May, September 20 for June through August, and December 20 for September through November. A platform may handle the money, but the paper trail still helps a host answer a later county, accountant, buyer, or partner question without rebuilding the season from memory. This is especially handy around Watkins Glen weekends, lake-season bookings, and family cabins that are rented part of the year.
