Orleans pistol-permit amendments are not a mail-in errand

Orleans County pistol-permit work has several lanes. The permit office is in the County Clerk’s Office at 3 South Main Street in Albion. It is open by appointment only. The county no longer accepts any request by mail. A permit holder must make an appointment and appear in person for an amendment. New applications start with the Sheriff’s Department. State Police handle recertification.

Albion, Medina, Holley, Kendall, Clarendon, Murray, Ridgeway, Carlton, and Yates residents should name the task before calling: new application, amendment, transfer, address change, semi-auto endorsement, recertification status, or fee question.

Keep the county page, appointment, phone number, form name, and date checked together. Use the Sheriff for a new application. Use the County Clerk for the listed in-person work. Use State Police for recertification. Take questions about eligibility, ownership, carrying, sales, or transfers to the office that handles that issue.
