Orangetown Parking Rules Change by Lot and Permit

Orangetown drivers using Pearl River lots should check meter hours, commuter-lot options, permit types, and fine schedules before parking all day.

Published June 24, 2026 · Last verified July 12, 2026

Orangetown parking is not one rule for every curb. The town’s Pearl River parking and meter page says meters are in effect Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. It also describes the South William Street commuter lot, including resident 16-hour parking options with permit requirements and enforcement from 5:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

The Town Clerk licenses-and-permits page adds the paperwork side: municipal parking lot permits require a valid DMV driver’s license, automobile liability insurance, and current vehicle registration. Resident permits require a New York State driver’s license, proof of residency, automobile liability insurance, and vehicle registration.

For commuters and downtown visitors, the exact lot and permit type matter. Identify the facility before planning an all-day stay, then match the permit packet to the driver and vehicle. Keep the driver’s license, registration, and insurance information together; add the town’s current residency proof when applying for a resident permit. Meter hours on a downtown block do not establish the rules for a commuter lot, so use the page for the specific lot and current permit category.
