Onondaga County Tax Payments Move After March 31

Onondaga County says current town and county taxes are paid to town collectors January through March, then go to county collection after April 1.

Onondaga County property-tax timing changes the office you should call. The county’s Tax Payments page says that between January 1 and March 31, current-year town and county taxes are paid to the town tax receiver or collector. After April 1, they are sent to Onondaga County for collection.

The RPTS page also points properties outside Syracuse to online bill, receipt, and payment access. The next check is calendar-based: identify whether the bill is still in the local town-collector period or has moved to county collection. Then verify the balance and payment method before mailing or paying online.

Keep the bill, parcel or account number, tax year, payment date, collector or county instructions, and receipt together. From January 1 through March 31, confirm the town route; after April 1, confirm the county route.
