Milo Building Projects Run Through Development Services
Milo property owners should start building, zoning, fire-safety, and land-use questions with the Town of Milo Development Services office.

Milo property work often starts with a local split. The town office handles land and code questions outside the Village of Penn Yan, while the village has its own lane. Milo’s Development Services material covers building construction, fire and life safety, property maintenance, land development, and zoning for people outside the village.
Appointments are encouraged because the Code Enforcement Officer also performs site inspections. The permit code asks for a written application with enough detail to show code compliance. It lists location, scope of work, tax map number, construction documents, site plan, owner signature, fee, and estimated permit value.
Before calling, gather the address, tax map number, sketch, project scope, and whether the parcel is inside or outside the village. That boundary question can save a surprising amount of back-and-forth.
In Milo, a weekend project can still run through Development Services before it becomes real. The lumber pile, contractor date, and inspection schedule all go better when the town route is sorted early.
For properties near Penn Yan, Keuka Lake traffic, or the town-village edge, that small location check can be the difference between one clean application and a second round of questions.
